About Seido

Karate with purpose

Seido is a traditional karate style that focuses on sincere effort, technical development, self-discipline and personal growth. It was founded by Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura and has grown into an international organisation with dojos around the world.

The Seido spirit

The word Seido is often associated with the “sincere way” — a path of training built on honesty, perseverance and self-improvement. Students are encouraged to become stronger physically, mentally and emotionally through regular practice.

Training includes basics (kihon), forms (kata), controlled sparring (kumite) and focused breathing, balance and discipline. The aim is not only to improve karate technique, but to develop confident, respectful and resilient people.

Karate with purpose

Seido training aims to shape character as much as technique, helping students grow in discipline, humility and inner strength.

Respect: Involves treating others with courtesy, avoiding anger, and showing respect for seniors, elders, and peers.
Love: Promotes cultivating love for oneself, which enables an open, loving, and compassionate attitude toward others.
Obedience: Refers to adhering to ethical standards, understanding moral laws, and developing humility, rather than blind subservience.
